Going on Vacation: How to Pick a Dog Kennel
Posted by adminIf you plan on taking a summer vacation that will not accommodate your family pet, consider boarding them in a local dog kennel. Kennels can vary in standards just as hotels can vary in standards. It is important to choose a kennel that you have confidence in. Leaving your dog in a place that you don’t feel certain about can leave you feeling stressed and guilty during your vacation.
How do you know if a particular kennel is right for your dog? First things first, find a kennel based on recommendations. Ask friends or co-workers who they board their pets with and what they like about the particular boarders. Also, veterinarians can recommend local kennels as well.
When you are looking at kennels that you may want to board your dog in look for three different things.
You will want to take a look at the cleanliness of the areas that the dogs are kept in.
You will want to be sure that all the other dogs, including yours of course, are required to be up-to-date on all their immunizations.
You will also want to be sure that your dog is given one-on-one attention at least once a day from a staffer.
Boarding your dog in an unsafe environment will cause your pet to be exposed to disease and stress. It may also ruin your vacation if you are not comfortable with the place that your dog is spending their time.
